Roku

Roku's newest compact consumer device provides seamless, direct streaming of video content from Netflix to consumers' TVs. It easily connects any TV or home entertainment system to the Internet (via Ethernet or Wi-Fi), instantly delivering over 12,000 movies and TV episodes offered by Netflix. To improve the user experience, the player detects Internet bandwidth and makes on-the-fly adjustments to provide the highest quality picture and audio possible. For homes with wireless Internet, the player is Wi-Fi ready, offering the ultimate in placement flexibility.

Roku utilized Qt for Embedded Linux  for the creation of the device's  movie cover flow and the initial set-up screen and was able to reduce time- to- market and furthermore benefited from its robust user interface.

Roku on Qt

"As we developed the Netflix Player by Roku, we were keenly focused on creating the best possible user experience for Netflix's eight million-plus customers. Qt provided us with the tools to implement our elegant and powerful user interface quickly, providing an important time-to-market advantage."

Tim Twedahl, vice president of consumer products, Roku, Inc.
