Longcheer
Chinese handset manufacturer was able to build a
robust smartphone communication platform using Qt Extended.
Longcheer Holdings is a leading Chinese mobile handset design house, established in July 2002. And public listed in the main board of Singapore Stock Exchange on May 13, 2005. We place great emphasis on providing effective solution and total support of GSM/GPRS/3G to our customers. In this 5 years, over 80 handsets have been developed.
The Challenge
With the Smart Phone market exploding, Longcheer , an independent high tech enterprise engaged in the research and development of handheld mobile terminals, decided to develop its own multi-function platform, the S100.
In designing the S100, Longcheer wanted to be able to deliver the features and functions expected in Smart Phones by using a standardized platform, while keeping development costs low and achieving a fast time to market.
The Solution
With Qt Extended, Qt provided an efficient, easy-to-use Linux-based user interface and a robust development framework. Additionally, Qt delivered highly effective documentation and training for the product that enabled engineers to initiate development rapidly.
The Value
The Longcheer R&D team was able to modify source code to meet customization requirements effectively and facilitate the development of many complex functions. The Qt Extended solution was easy to use, saving time for development engineers and delivering wide ranging platform and application support.
“Using Qt Extended, we have been able to develop a mobile communications terminal platform on an advanced open technology platform that allows us to go head to head with leaders in the marketplace.” Shi Lei, R&E Director, Longcheer
